This is my life. Sometimes shown through the eye of my camera phone, and sometimes not. I'll talk running, gadgets, music, and whatever else I stumble on to

I'm a News Junkie

What do you get with an Internet connection on a Treo 24 hours a day? Non stop news and other goodies.

I'm an admitted news and tech junkie. It seems I always have to know what's going on in the world around me.

Mp3 podcasts are great to listen to on my way to and from work and when I'm fiddling with stuff at home and don't want to see TV or turn on the radio.

My MP3 podcasts are downloaded for me automatically at around 2 a.m. using iPodder and my broadband connection. Quicknews on my Treo syncronizes my RSS feeds for me at 4 a.m. every morning.

Yes. I'm a nerd.

Here is a sample of a few I subscribe to:

Podcasts (Using iPodder and iTunes):

The Rock and Roll Geekshow - Lots of obscure indie music.
Ebert & Roeper - Weekly movie reviews
Bands Under the Radar - Another indie music show
Home Network and Computer Help - Technology help
1SRC Podcast - All things Palm powered

RSS Feeds (using Quicknews on a Palm Treo)

Gizmodo - Tech gizmo's and more
Infoworld - The world of Information Technology
Odd News - Odd news from around the world
Palm Info Center - Another Palm oriented tech site
Punknews.org - Punk music news
Topix Top Stories - World news
Treo Today - dedicated to Treo news
Treonauts - A great Treo news site
Wired News - Tech, tech, and more tech
Yahoo US News - even more world news

I'm a bit lazy to include the Links to each of these feeds but you can get more info on Podcasting at www.podcastalley.com. A great site for RSS News feeds is the Yahoo site.

Christmas is good...

That's my nephew Danny pictured above. Nothing like watching the little ones open their gifts and then getting to play with them (meaning me!) for a bit afterwards.

It's done... all in all it was a great Christmas with family and friends. I was rather surprised with myself in that I got the bulk of my shopping done ahead of time- only had a few last minute things to get on Christmas eve. I got some nice things including some Chicago Cubs stuff, gift cards, toys!, and a much needed fishing pole that my honey got me. Oh- and this incredible remote control hummer that I have to take pictures of... I can drive this thing myself!

Next is News Year's weekend at Illinois Beach Resort and then a cold dip in the lake and a shot at doing the Polar Bear Plunge in Waukegan for the first time- anyone wanting to join us can email me for info! More on that soon...

This made my day

Odd News
Computer worm traps child porn offender (Reuters)

Reuters - A child porn offender in Germany turned himself in to the police after mistaking an email he received from a computer worm for an official warning that he was under investigation, authorities said Tuesday. "It just goes to show that computer worms aren't always destructive," said a spokesman for police in the western city of Paderborn. "Here it helped us to uncover a crime which would otherwise probably have gone undetected."

The Great Void

I wonder if there was ever a class action lawsuit filed against snack chip makers for fooling you in to thinking you purchased a healthy full bag of chips when the bag is actaully half or less than half full of them tasty morsels...

What a rip.

It's my new blog...

Well... a bit more colorful than the last one. I wanted something that was completely seperate from planet JstreetZine so here it is... tell me what you think.

Some interesting bits on my blogs' title from Wikipedia:

A nibble (or less commonly, nybble) is the computing term for the aggregation of four bits, or half an octet (an octet being an 8-bit byte). As a nibble contains four bits, there are sixteen (24) possible values, so a nibble corresponds to a single hexadecimal digit (thus, it is often referred to as a "hex digit" or "hexit").

The term "nibble" originates from the fact that the term "byte" is a pun on the English word "bite". A nibble is a small bite, which in this context is humourously construed as "half a bite". The alternative "nybble" spelling parallels the spelling of "byte".

Did you get all of that? Good.
