Project 365/053: Babysitting an injury

Project 365/053: Babysitting an injury

For some reason, the hip flexor in my left hip started bothering me during runs about a week ago.

Nothing really happened to cause it, but I'm blaming it all on the treadmill work I've been doing. I just hate that thing.

I'm taking a few days to stretch it and ice it up before giving it a wurl, hopefully come Saturday.

Project 365/051: Palm Pre Powerhouse

Project 365/051: Palm Pre Powerhouse

The Border's WiFi was being a little b*tch tonight, so I have my Palm Pre serving as a speedy wireless hotspot for my laptop and iTouch while reading an eBook via the Kindle app, and streaming some Slacker Radio.

Getting things done!

Project 365/045: Milwaukee Lakefront

Project 365/045: Milwaukee Lakefront

Katie and I had a really nice Valentines day. It started out with a breakfast buffet at Molly Cools in downtown Milwaukee, and then headed down along the lakefront to see if the dog sledding demo's were still running. The demo's were already over, and instead we went for a brief glimpse of the frozen shoreline.

It was deceivingly beautiful outside, and very cold!

We ended the day with a Milwaukee Admirals hockey game, of course!

I think I'm all caught up with my Project 365 photos, part of the delay having to do with a bad laptop battery keeping me from uploading on time.

Where are my Project 365 posts?

Project 365/040: A blast of snow

Well, they're on my Flickr page here! I've missed only one day so far, and haven't had a chance to post them on my blog yet.

Head on over to take a look :)

Project 365/036: Happy Anniv. boss

Project 365/036: Happy Anniv. boss

The company brought in lunch for my boss's 20th anniversary at the job. I've been around for 11 years of that.

And yes, the cake was delicious.

I'm pretty lucky to be working for him. He's a great guy.

I'm about a day late in putting my posts up, but the photos are being taken on time. So far so good, though. I'm hanging in there!

Good radio show tonight. This is a crummy phone shot of the studio we broadcast out of.

Would love it if you'd listen in sometime :)

Project 365/034: Medals of Honor

Project 365/034: Medals of Honor

This is the current state of my race medals, resting in a pile on my stereo speaker next to my Xbox360.

I know it looks terrible, but I've been on the hunt for the proper way to display them nicely. I've been quite picky about it, since they mean so much to me. All of them are covered in sweat, dirt, and at times, blood. Each one has its own unique story- memories of which pop into my head when I hold each one.

I'm thinking a glass case to either hold all of them at once, or one case or frame for each? I have the race bib to go along for each of these races, so the one-case-each plus bib would work. I'll figure something out.

On the running front:

I don't officially start training for the Rockford Marathon until the 15th of this month. I have, however, been really busy putting in some maintenance miles and strength conditioning since early January. As I'd mentioned in a previous post, my efforts have almost tripled in intensity compared to this time last year.

I'm still averaging 10 to 15 miles per week, but the efforts have been hard. The treadmill work is done one or twice during the week coupled with strength training. Long runs (if you'd call them that) between 5 and 7 miles are done on the weekend.

I'm hoping to squeeze a bit more daylight out of a run outside during the week to keep off that god forsaken treadmill. I've still been able to ward off any knee issues this winter, which has me all smiles.

Keep on keeping on!

Project 365/032: Sun Pillar

Project 365/032: Sun Pillar

I got this interesting shot on the way home from work today of a sun pillar at sunset. It looks as though the light post in the parking lot is actually shooting a ray of light into the sky.

According to this article, sun pillars are usually caused by falling ice crystals form thin, high clouds. Intresting, eh?

In other news, I registered for my 3rd Chicago Marathon today! I'm super excited to run this incredible race- it's such an overwhelming experience and I've yet to tire of it. I'm going back for more! I'm hoping to 4 hrs or a sub 4 hrs. this time around. We'll see.

I'll have a bit more on my running progress so far in a later post. I've been working hard, and am excited to start training in a week or two for marathon #1.

Well, I've made it one month into Project 365. It hasn't been too bad so far, but I'm just getting started.

Thanks so much for following along. It's been fun!
